Paul has more than 20 years' experience in the Technology Media Telecom (TMT) sector. Paul joined TM Forum after establishing the internationally acclaimed smart city project Bristol Is Open and co-founding UK5G. Before that he was Chief Marketing Officer at Fortune 500 fintech software company SunGard, which grew from a $2.8bn primarily American company, to a $5bn global business. Prior to SunGard, Paul worked in a fintech start-up and as a freelance broadcast journalist. He has an MBA from Cass Business School, a Political Science degree from the University of Birmingham, and is a fellow of Bristol University’s Digital Futures Institute. Paul has lived and worked in the UK, America, Switzerland and Hong Kong and is married with two children.

5G: Evolution Or Revolution?

Today's roll-out of 5G is being marketed as business-as-usual - an extension of existing business models. But a deeper 5G revolution is brewing, as cloud-native IT operations, orchestrated by AI, enable sliced and virtualized autonomous scalable networks to operate on-demand. Are operators getting to grips with the reality of their own operational digital transformation? Will they be ready to provide 5G enabled B2B2x digital services forecast to be worth over $0.5Tn by 2026? Is the industry moving fast enough or will hyperscale disruptors spark a game-changing revolution?
