Robert Schnell is program manager for Distributed Application Cloud at Ericsson. He now has more than 20 year of experience working as a system architect in telecommunication systems. His work has included architecture definition and implementation as well as industry engagements in mobile communication core networks. He is a specialist in signaling protocols and has in the recent years worked in cloud infrastructure product development for virtual network functions. Schnell holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science (Diplom Informatiker) from the RWTH University in Aachen.

5G as a technology is an enabler for new type of use cases that drive the evolution of edge services. Bundling edge cloud services and 5G communication services inside a communcation service provider environment offer new potentials for application developers to embrace edge service design as an extension to their existing central service design. This presentation will describe the problem areas and solution options for such bundling.
