The purpose of the easy.going project was to encourage new developments in mobility for disabled people. It created an opportunity for everyone to use buildings and the transport system without the need for external assistance. To harness the creative potential of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and provide them with access to current research, the project also campaigned for the removal of “transfer barriers” between research and SMEs in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
In four phases, a transfer model (Scalable Innovation Process SIP) encouraged cooperation in brainstorming, the preparation of preliminary studies, consolidation and the implementation of new products in the field of mobility for disabled people. Two pilot projects were undertaken to carry out tests and evaluations. The first one looked at the possibility of adapting an existing model for wheelchair access in regional and long-distance trains to meet the detailed needs of the practice partners in the center. The second pilot project looked at the problems with passenger information systems from the wheelchair passenger's point of view.
The outcome of the project is expected to be a self-funding transfer network that will establish itself as a cooperation platform on the open market.
