Open Government Data Workshop at Fraunhofer FOKUS Another Workshop on the topic “Open Government Data“ has been held at Fraunhofer FOKUS on march 20, 2012. About 20 participants took an active interest in the survey’s interims results that FOKUS draws up in cooperation with the Lorenz-von-Stein-Institute and the ÖPP Deutschland AG on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Last year already, the research institute conducted a feasibility survey about the disclosure of Berlins economic and administration data. In September 2011, Germany’s first regional Open Data Portal has been launched in Berlin – realized by FOKUS in cooperation with Berlins Senate Administration for Economics, Technology and Research and BerlinOnline.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior is now striving to find a nationwide solution to provide statistics and other data records for processing and visualization (e.g. on smartphones). Within the Open Government Survey the following areas will be analyzed systematically:

  • data portfolio of the public sector
  • technical standards
  • legal framework
  • IPR conditions and licensing for Open Government Data in Germany
  • payment and operating models for the Open Government Portal
