Some important features that are being deployed in 5G networks, such as network slicing, C-RAN, dynamic functional splits, as well as edge computing, require novel architectures as well as new radio technologies, both in the transport- and in the access- network.
Moreover, the new requirements on 5G networks coming from different verticals and new services do have a significant impact on the needed performance of the wireless access links.
Based on requirements and architectural considerations of the transport- and access network, this workshop highlights implications on the convergence of wired and wireless technologies. New developments of high capacity and low latency wireless links will be presented and evaluated.
