Abstract

Towards Private 5G Industry Networks

New “Industrie 4.0” scenarios require high available wireless communication services, similar to wired communication. These communication services are operated by the production staff (operate, maintain), independent from the IT staff and infrastructure. 5G will become an extension of the wired Industrial Network. Production managers expect similar direct access to the complete 5G infrastructure, avoiding dependencies on external 3rd parties. Private networks based on slices of public network doesn´t fully meet that requirement. This makes dedicated spectrum for private non-public 5G networks, operated by the production owner, necessary.
