This presentation will provide a status report on the progress of standardization activities in the ETSI NFV ISG. The recent achievements such as the completion of the functional specifications of management and orchestration interfaces will be reviewed. Ongoing activities constituting the 2016/2017 work programme will be presented as well, in particular the specification of data models and APIs, and the studies launched on a number of items aiming at “operationalizing” NFV.  The presentation  will then give some insights on the applicability of ETSI NFV specifications and reports to the design and deployment of 5G Core Networks, with focus on aspects such as network slicing and network functions design.
