Tarek El-Basyouny is part of the IMS Platform Engineering team at Deutsche Telekom Technik. He leads a technology work group, assigned to drive IMS transformation to next generation NFV/SDN architecture, aimed at enabling automation and faster time to market for fixed and mobile services.

Prior to joining Deutsche Telekom, Tarek was with Vodafone Group Services and Vodafone Egypt as subject matter expert in mobile packet core and IMS. His prime focus was on designing end to end solutions for voice, data and messaging services, including VoLTE, VoWiFi, RCS and M2M

Tarek holds a Master of Science degree in telecommunication engineering from Ain Shams University in Cairo and a Master of Business Administration from Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.

The presentation discusses the opportunity of expanding the VNF/NS data models to enable SDN-based inter-Data Center fault-tolerance for IMS voice and video sessions.
