Alexander Willner is leading the Future Internet research group at the chair of Next Generation Networks (AV) at the Technical University Berlin. In close cooperation with the Fraunhofer FOKUS he is working with his team in various international research projects in the area of federated infrastructures for Future Internet experimentation and development. With a focus on the semantic annotation of resources, particular attention is being paid to the fields of application Intercloud Computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN).

He is active in the according standardization activities Open-Multinet (GENI/FIRE) and the Intercloud Working Group P2303 (IEEE). As member of the Fed4FIRE project he leads the work on the semantic description of testbed resources. In addition, he is teaching the relevant sections in the lecture Future Internet Technologies at the Technical University Berlin. Finally, as CTO of testbeds.eu he contributes to lift testing facilities and services from the academia to the commercial area
