NewTV Summit of BITKOM: Television landscape in Germany is in deep upheaval

On the BITKOM NewTV Summit in Berlin on November 5, the newest developments in the areas of IPTV, Web TV and Smart TV were discussed. Top-class speakers and panel discussions provided interesting insights into the latest developments in the industry.
Dr. Stefan Arbanowski, Head of our Competence Centre "Future Applications and Media" (FAME) gave a presentation titled "Web video on Tipping Point - new technologies give massive growth impulses". He discussed technical solutions in the panel "Market and Technology".
Who wants to be set up well in the future within a changing television landscape has to make its offer clear social and personal, said the Head of Microsoft Germany, Christian Illek. The TV must continue to offer much more interactivity and dialogue on many different platforms such as smart phone, tablet or TV. Currently, 14 million video-capable devices are online in Germany, many also offer videos on demand. Viewers would be significantly turn to non-linear services, which they determine by themselves. It‘s their own decision when and where to retrieve the content.
