Charles Sheridan

Director, Applied Network Technology Lab, Huawei Technologies, Germany

Mr. Charles Sheridan is the Director of Huawei’s Applied Network Technology research Lab based in Munich, Germany. He is responsible for Huawei’s strategic research agenda focused on Internet of Things (IoT) Edge networking and computing technologies for Huawei’s network product line with a specific focus on Industrial and Automotive domains. Prior to joining Huawei he was Director of Intel Labs Europe IoT research Lab based in Ireland and responsible for Intel’s global research program on IoT technologies.

He has lead large global RnD matrixed teams and product groups in developing next generation IoT products and solutions across domains from Industry 4.0, Autonomous driving to Smart Cities with world leading companies and government agencies. He established and held the Director position for Intel’s IoT research centre on Urban IoT & Smart Cities in London with Imperial and University College London.

His current research interests are in the areas of networked Cyber Physical Systems and the Industrial Internet – “emerging global network fabric connecting people, machines and the internet “. He has participated in several European Commission research projects and consulted with the EU Commission on IoT challenges. He has published a number of industry white papers and journal publications and co-authored 2 books on energy efficiency strategies. He holds a number of patents on IoT networking and computing innovations.

ECCE TSN + OPC UA Testbed

Abstract

OPC UA and TSN are critical technologies for the OT and ICT convergence, which improve the efficiency of information exchange in industrial shop floor. This talk shall focus on the technical challenges to bring this technology to the factory floor and the integration challenges to enable seamless connectivity and orchestration of the TSN fabric.
