IT4Energy makes local solar panels and energy storage operational

Through the combination of both systems and after the planned installation of the vertical wind turbine the control systems developed in the IT4Energy Lab should test novel demand optimization, production and load management strategies under realistic situations.
Important points are the integration of these solutions in so-called virtual power plants as well as the use of smart meters and improved prognosis and load models for the optimal coordination of local energy production and demand.
The photovoltaic system has a peak power capacity of 7,8 kW and the energy storage unit has a nominal capacity of 20 kWh and intelligently diverts PV energy into the system and/or into the local grid. An office room as well as a lab therefore have a separate wiring system such that these rooms are current-fed by the local renewable energy sources and storeage.
According to the IT4Energy motto “measure. predict. improve.“ all data from power generation and load types are gathered and stored, as to provide for a wider data application basis for office buildings and other commercial buildings.
In this matter, not only novel algorithms can be developed, but also new applications and services.
