The FI-PPP capacity building and infrastructure support action INFINITY – “INfrastructures for the Future Internet commuNITY”, through collaboration with organizations across Europe captures and communicates information about available infrastructures and any interoperability requirements and issues. INFINITY documents any usage-related operational constraints and seeks to identify and foster federation opportunities that could facilitate large scale experimentation and testing. 

Since on the one hand, Fraunhofer FOKUS is involved in the FI-PPP core platform project FI-WARE, as well as in several FI-PPP usage area projects, and since, on the other hand, Fraunhofer FOKUS is heavily involved in several of Europe’s Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) projects and facilities, FOKUS is perfectly positioned in INFINITY as a mediator between the FI-PPP and FIRE. Furthermore, as Fraunhofer FOKUS has in-depth and long-term expertise in the field of cross-domain infrastructure federation, continuously contributing to several FI projects, Fraunhofer FOKUS is able to effectively contribute to INFINITY’s infrastructure analysis, able to identify interoperability issues and able to evaluate infrastructure’s capabilities for federation.
