Fraunhofer FOKUS is strengthening its cooperation with Indonesia

On 9th of June a »Memorandum of Understanding« between PT Telkom Indonesia, its sister company Telkom University and Fraunhofer FOKUS was signed in Bali. The objective of the MoU is the joint development of digital urban solutions for Indonesia.
The signing took place in the evening of the first day of the FUSECO Forum Asia in Nusa Dua in Bali. Prof. Dr. Thomas Magedanz, head of the competence center NGNI at Fraunhofer FOKUS, Ir. Joddy Hernady, Head of Innovation and Design Center der Telkom Group Indonesia and Rector of Telkom University, Prof. M. Eng. Ph.D. Ir. Mochammad Azhari, signed the MoU.
For already 10 years the competence center Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) of Fraunhofer FOKUS and TELKOM Indonesia, the main incumbent telecommunications operator in Indonesia, have been working together in the field of Next Generation Networks. Together with the Telkom University they now want to develop smart city solutions for enterprises, public institutions, general public and tourists. The objective is an intelligent city management, which manages the scarce resources such as energy and water effectively and supports as well the participation of the people in public interests.
