Professor Dr. med. Christoph Thümmler is the head of the Department of Acute Geriatrics and Early Rehabilitation at Helios Park-Klinikum, Leipzig and Professor for eHealth at Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, UK. Let alone several national and European research projects Professor Thümmler has been involved as a scientific advisor for the health topic in the EU-China Round Table on the Internet of Things and has also been contributing as convener of the health domain in the EC‘s 5G-PPP programme. As a member of the standing working group on 5G standardization at the Bundesnetzagentur in Mainz he is leading the efforts of the health vertical with regards to standardization and implementation of innovative 5G solutions. Christoph has contributed to several standardization papers and has also been one of the co-authors of a recent VDE position paper on resilient networks with radio access and has recently published an editorial on „Health 4.0“ (Springer). Professor Thümmler has a special interest in private 5G networks, network slices and suitable RATs for the integration of smart pharmaceuticals and Precision Medicine.
