The IPv6 Observatory jointly with the GEN6 FP7 project will organize a two day Policy Dialogue Workshop “IPv6@gov”, on the 23rd and 24th of January 2013 in Brussels, in the premises of the European Commission. Fraunhofer FOKUS is member of the GEN6 consortium, which is participated by nineteen organizations from 9 different countries, including public entities, research/academy and IPv6 experts.
The topic is of strategic importance to the competitiveness of Europe and its relevance was recently highlighted by Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes in charge of the Digital Agenda for Europe as being a pan European priority. The objective of the workshop is to bring together policy makers and stakeholders operating in the IPv6 domain to discuss the following key issues:
• National strategies concerning IPv6 deployment;
• Measures to speed up the deployment of IPv6 in the European Union and to strengthen the position of the European IPv6 industry.
Day 1 will be dedicated to a review of the state-of-the art regarding IPv6 deployment at an international level on the basis of the findings and achievements of the IPv6 Deployment Observatory and the GEN6 project. Day 2 will involve a series of round table discussions with key actors aimed at fostering a policy dialogue on the IPv6 strategy harmonization process at a European level and at defining the political and economic case to foster IPv6 deployment in the members states.
