Start of the fourth international AFRICOMM

Today, the Fourth International Conference on ICT in developing countries AFRICOMM 2012th. The conference provides an open forum where scientists and representatives from industry and government can share ideas and discuss new challenges. From 12 th to the 14th of November researchers present in Yaoundé, Cameroon information and communications technologies that can help less developed regions to be connected to the Internet. Prof Dr Karl Jonas, Head of the Competence Center RESCON at FOKUS, is the General Chair of the Conference.

The African continent is, more than ever, in need of cutting edge and relevant e‑infrastructures,e-services, and enabling policies. AFRICOMM was established in 2009 in Mozambique and continued 2010 in Cape Town, 2011 in Zanzibar, as a series of annual conferences.

During the conference 2012 in Cameroon, high-quality research mainly from Africa, but also from Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweden and Canada, will be presented by the scientists. The conference will include demonstrations of real-world results, and a student’s track that allows young researchers to get in touch with an with an international research community.
