    System Quality Center

The System Quality Center (SQC) provides methods, processes and tools for the development and quality assurance of software-intense systems that often perform business-critical or security- and safety-relevant functions in urban infrastructures, cars, trains, planes or factories. In order for such systems to work fault-tolerantly and fail-safely even in unexpected situations the system quality has to be ensured throughout the entire development process, from the requirements analysis to the certification. Central to this process is adhering to high quality standards, as well as for the systems to comply with industry-specific standards.

The SQC researchers work on model-based engineering and testing methods and assist their clients with the validation, verification and certification of safety-relevant and security-critical systems. The scope of work ranges from designing a model to operating, testing, certificating and permitting IT products. In addition, the scientists of the competence center are active in standardization committees and develop their own standards. SQC offers its customers and partners a wide range of workshops and training courses.

InnoTrans 2014: Clear path for safe rail traffic through Europe

    18.09.2014 09:44

To travel safely, eco-nomically and inexpensively by train through Europe, uniform signal and train control solutions are needed. As a consequence of history, these still vary from country to country today. The „European Train Control System“ (ETCS) is intended to establish greater consistency. Fraunhofer FOKUS is going to display methods to verify the system as safe at Innotrans 2014.

As software is becoming increasingly complex, the interoperability of applications gains more and more importance. By providing implementations of standardized UML-profiles, the Eclipse UML Profile Repository (UPR) achieves the interoperability of heterogeneous systems. The repository was released in January and is now available as a free download.
