Based on the practical experiences gained in the operation of NGN environments and the development of applications, we are offering defined training sessions / tutorials for several topics. In order to get a hands-on experience, we suggest to hold the tutorials with us in Berlin but of course, we will also do on-site events. In order to keep the courses as interactive and productive as possible we suggest audiences of up to 25 persons.
NGN Application Development
This customizable (optionally: on-site) tutorial provides customers, such as operators, vendors or application developers, an excellent and unique source of information for getting started with Parlay X, JAIN SLEE (and related open network APIs) as well as SIP servlets. The tutorial introduces the drivers towards web APIs for Telco networks, provides an overview of API structures and functionalities and explains their realization in different network environments. Furthermore, the tutorial provides service examples and an overview of available products and the deployment states within operator networks. An outlook onto the evolution of these APIs and their use will conclude the tutorial.
IMS & NGN Tutorial
The tutorial starts with the motivation and aims of the IMS architecture. Then the most important standardisation groups are introduced. On the base of a NGN reference architecture the basic architectural principles of the IMS (functional components and protocols) are presented. This includes a short introduction to the two basic protocols SIP and Diameter as well as an overview to the IMS core elements (CSCFs and HSS), media server functions and applications server options and their incarnations when realising some sample applications. Relationships to other platform technologies (CAMEL, OSA/Parlay) are discussed and IMS strategies are introduced. The tutorial ends with a visit of the FOKUS Open IMS Playground and the demonstration of various prototype applications.
In case that you are interested also in other tutorials related to subjects around NGNs (e.g. specifically for the Open IMS Core or for IMS client development), please feel free to contact us: info [at] open-ims [dot] org
