Apps4Deutschland: Innovative ideas, applications and data wanted

Fraunhofer FOKUS supports the nationwide open data competition Apps4Deutschland. We are looking for innovative applications for PC and mobile phone to make the public sector data available to the general public. In addition to the category "application", concepts for the categories "ideas" and "open data" for authorities, who open their data sets for the competition, will be rewarded.

The official signal for the competition gave the Federal Minister of the Interior, Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich, on 8th November 2011 at the exhibition „Moderner Staat“ in Berlin. Within Apps4Deutschland, the federal state Berlin awards a special prize for applications based on data provided from Berlin. The Berlin Open Data Portal, where Fraunhofer FOKUS significantly was involved, provides the data base. It will also be presented at the exhibition “Moderner Staat”. Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker, head of Competence center MOTION from Fraunhofer FOKUS, is member of the jury, which judge the submissions. The winner of Apps4Deutschland and the Berlin’s Special Award will be announced at CeBIT in March 2012.
