of requisite services from existing specialist (FORMS) applications is via Web Services. The Fraunhofer FOKUS SOA Lab is realizing parts of training course management of the Professional Association for the Glass and Ceramics Industry (BGGK) as a showcase model of service oriented architecture. The relevant parts concern registration of trainees and a section of actual training implementation. To administer and conduct its training courses, the BGGK previously used an own development as part of an integrated application based on the Oracle FORMS /Oracle Application Server. This existing solution will now be migrated step to step to a service oriented architecture.
The most frequent workflows in training course management – previously managed and supervised by clerical operatives – are now being defined as fully or partly automated business processes that can be realized using BPEL, the standardized Business Process Execution Language, and the Oracle BPEL Process Man ager. Functions extant in the FORMS application shall also be made available as Web services.
In its role as systems integrator, Fujitsu Siemens has opti mized business processes and engineered some model part-solutions with the Oracle Process Manager that provide excellent support for workflows. Provision of requisite services from existing specialist (FORMS) applications is via Web Services.
