An Open Technology and Applications Testbed for Next Generation Service Platforms

Paving the way for early prototyping in Service-Oriented Architectures on top of Next Generation (Mobile) Networks and Future Internet infrastructures

The Open SOA Telco Playground is a pioneering reference testbed focusing on the provisioning of (tele-) communications service capabilities based on state-of-the-art Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles. The main focus is on the integration of communication-specific services into an open set of business domains. The following figure provides an overview of the main working areas:

 This vendor- and provider-independent technology playground is an open testbed for service platforms on top of converging networks as circuit-switched networks, packet-switched networks, Next Generation Networks (NGNs), and Next Generation Mobile Networks. This technology is also a medium for the long-term evolution of network architectures, commonly referred to as Future Internet. The main focus lies in the research and development of new technologies, designs, and ideas for:

• Distributed service orchestration and composition with real-time constraints
• Service brokerage
• Network abstraction APIs
• Open client infrastructures
• Virtualization of network and service infrastructures in cloud-based infrastructures

The Open SOA Telco Playground has been developed by the FOKUS Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) department. It is linked to the FOKUS FUSECO Playground.
