The project was aimed at implementing a Value-Added Service (VAS) Application on top of the FOKUS Open SOA Telco Playground using JavaFX technologies. The application provides an Instant Messaging Client which leverages Next Generation Network capabilities by accessing the exposed APIs via a Parlay X Gateway, namely the FOKUS OpenSE. Therefore, the myMONSTER TCS framework provides a basis, which is extended to support interaction with Web Services. Due to the client’s modular architecture, the Graphical User Interface has been implemented with JavaFX technologies, a software platform for developing Rich Internet Applications that are capable of running across a variety of devices (e.g. desktop, browser, mobile devices or set-top boxes). The developed solution interacts with the Converged Messaging Server (COMS), thus enabling generic message interworking features amongst various communication services, such as SMS, E-Mail, Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) services.
Finally, the JavaFX Client has been designed to support several runtime environments and platforms and has been successfully validated as desktop application, widget and browser version.Used FOKUS software: myMONSTER TCS Framework, OpenSE, COMS, Open IMS Core, XDMS, Presence Enabler
