PoCCA - The FOKUS Policy and Charging Control Architecture
The main objective of the PCC (Policy and Charging Control) architecture is to interconnect the signaling plane with the data plane. The PCC provides access control, resource control and QoS control. The PCC architecture as it is defined in 3GPP Release 7 is comprised of three elements connected by two Diameter interfaces: P-CSCF, PCRF and PCEF.
PoCCA is the FOKUS implementation of the Policy and Charging Control Architecture
- the Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) part of the Open IMS Core
- the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and
- the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF)
PoCCA enhances an IMS scenario by providing control of the access network and monitoring resource usages. Using PoCCA allows you to offer policy and QoS control in a complex heterogeneous scenario based on IMS. Flow-based charging is also within the possibilities of PoCCA.
