Interactive User Experience - The Virtual Quiz Show

Introduction – Just changing Channels is not enough

With a more and more evolving technological advance it is quite clear that the possibility of just changing the channel is not enough for the television of the future. Users don’t only want to consume but to interact and to create there own content. So the task is to find ways to include interaction into the television environment.

One example for this is the Interactive Quiz Show where two or more users can compete against each other. It even may be that they compete against each other over prices or credits for there VOD portal.

Design and Interfaces (Overview)

To keep the game very dynamic with a high scalability the whole game is based on an IMS / Sip signaling. This allows a very nice interaction between the users. Additionally the users exchange web cam stream to virtually bring them together over there screens.

To administrate and host such games the system offers an Http/Ajax web interface using the ICEFaces toolkit. This allows an easy creation of different game sets and to activate/start a game.

A Game is directly associated with a television content and invites to users are only send to those watching this content.
