The Fraunhofer FOKUS IPTV Media Client suite enables consumers to enjoy access to converged TV services on the TV screen with an end-user interface that is optimized for the remote control using cutting-edge interfaces and interaction design. The solution also enables viewers to watch interactive and personalized IPTV on their PC screens and on the go. This further strengthens the business case with revenue sharing and greater advertising opportunities for both operators and content providers. The standards-based solution is designed to create complex IPTV and media applications. For this the Fraunhofer FOKUS IPTV media client suite comes with a modular four-tier composition. On top of the access plane, media and signaling technologies such as RTSP, HTTP, SIP and Web services provide the interfaces necessary for communication and signaling. The presentation layer supports HTML5, CE-HTML, .NET and Java FX. In addition, it allows the creation of so-called Media Clients, each acting as a client building upon a specifi c visualization technology. The service layer consists of a variety of applications, including hybrid TV, VoD, communications, content guides, personalization, communities, interactivity and targeted advertisement. The Fraunhofer FOKUS IPTV Media Client Suite takes advantage of cutting-edge technology and teams them with developments from other sectors such as the CE industry and telecommunications to provide a modular, platform-independent and robust foundation for standards-compliant IPTV and rich media applications.
