FOKUS eGovernment-Labor
The Fraunhofer FOKUS eGovernment laboratory, first opened in November 2004, provides an ideal infrastructure for the cooperative development and trials of innovate eGovernment solutions. It encompasses up-to-date eGovernment architectures, infrastructural components, solutions and products. New developments are tested under lab conditions and presented as scientific outcomes. The focal points of the eGovernment laboratory’s activities are the interoperability of eGovernment products, replication of processes and modeling of laws and regulations. The Fraunhofer FOKUS eGovernment laboratory supports vendors and IT providers, helping them to identify compatibility problems and with the migration of proprietary solutions right through to standard based solutions.
The FOKUS eGovernment Laboratory’s activities and functions are diverse. The laboratory:
-
is at once a workshop, showcase and competency node which promotes compatible and economic solutions for business and administration in cooperation with partners from the eGovernment center
-
develops, evaluates and demonstrates interoperability between various technologies and vendors’ IuK-systems based on open standards and open platforms such as document, application and platform interoperability, for example
-
develops (prototypic) solutions and presents research outcomes in application areas
-
is a demo and presentation environment
WE OFFER
- (Proof-of-concept) evaluations of interoperability and the ability to integrate eGovernment components from various vendors and from the open source arena
- Technology integration and consultation e.g. architectural concepts, security strategies, operations models for cross eGovernment solutions and operational concepts for business
- Contributions for the development of national (SAGA, XÖV) and international (W3C, OASIS) standards
- International networking across Eastern Europe PCC Polish Competence Center for eGov and eEdu
