Researchers are designing and testing assisted training environments for senior citizens and rehabilitation patients at the AAL Lab. Using prototypes, therapists and partners from medical and rehabilitative institutions as well as manufacturers of medical technology can test applications at an early stage at the AAL Lab.
Integration and analysis of sensor data for telemedically assisted services is at the center of attention. Data from different sensor systems are integrated and enriched with information from video analysis. Drawing on the results, rehabilitation exercises can be controlled and adjusted either independently at home in front of the screen or remotely by a therapist. FOKUS offers conformity testing according to ISO 11073 for the standardized transmission of vital parameters between sensors and medical equipment. The methods employed by researchers at Fraunhofer FOKUS allow for particularly expansive test coverage. This is especially relevant for manufacturers of medical equipment in order to validate the interoperability of medical services and ensure certification of appliances and software.
