Demonstration 4:

OpenEPC - Prototype Implementation of the Evolved Packet Core (EPC)

In Demonstration 4, the competence center for Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) presents OpenEPC, the new NGNI platform for Next Generation Mobile Networks based on 3GPP standards.

The demo will highlight the platform’s main features: mobility, QoS control, and interconnection to the application & services layer.

Also included in the demo are the following Release 8 prototype components:

• Serving-Gw - providing access to the 3G public network
• ePDG - for WiFi access
• PDN-Gw - central gateway of the architecture
• PCRF - used for policy and QoS control
• ANDSF - permitting advanced mobility scenarios
• HSS/SPR - repository of the subscriber profiles used by the other functions
• AF - application functions from IMS (P-CSCF) and the Internet
• Converged client
