The 4th European Conference on Model-Driven Architectures (ECMDA 2008) as well as the International Symposium on Quality Engineering for Embedded Systems (QEES 2008) in Berlin, Germany was successfully accomplished. This conference week was a big success with the largest number of attendees ever - with 200 participants from over 30 countries. All participants appreciated the high-quality program and the intense discussions. Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) is an initiative proposed by the Object Management Group (OMG) for platform-generic software development. It promotes the use of models in the specification, design, analysis, synthesis, deployment, and evolution of complex software systems.
ECMDA-FA is dedicated to furthering the state of knowledge and fostering the industrialisation of the MDA methodology. Its focus is on engaging the key European research and industrial figures in a dialogue which will result in a stronger, more efficient industry, producing more reliable software on the basis of state-of-the-art research results. The 2008 conference is organised in two tracks of interest dealing with the foundations and applications of MDA. There will be additional workshops and tools and poster exhibitions on these subjects.
The conference will be held in Berlin, German capital, located at the heart of Europe. With about 3,400,000 inhabitants, Berlin is the largest City in Germany. It is 38 kilometres long and 45 kilometres wide and covers an area of 889 square kilometres. In the middle of the Brandenburg region, the city occupies the flatlands on the banks of the Havel and Spree rivers and is criss-crossed with numerous canals.
Berlin is dynamic, cosmopolitan and creative, a city of opportunities just waiting to be seized in all areas, like entertainment, recreation, economy, science and academic life. Berlin unites culture, nature and history, has more than 170 museums and more than 2,500 public recreational and green spaces. Berlin is very close to the historically important city of Potsdam, capital of the State of Brandenburg, with the famous palace Sanssouci.
