Opening of Cyber Security Demonstration Center

Fraunhofer FOKUS and CSC open in Berlin in collaboration with HP, EMC / RSA, McAfee and Sourcefire the first Cyber Security Demonstration Center. The partners test in simulated attack scenarios how cyber attacks can be prevented. Fraunhofer FOKUS offers a complex IT infrastructure to ensure a holistic and integrated approach and to provide a versatile testbed.

Senate passes resolution to integrate Berlin-based ICT institutes by July 1, 2012

At its meeting on May 8, 2012, the Senate of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft passed a resolution to integrate the Berlin-based Fraunhofer institutes FIRST, FOKUS and the Berlin site of ISST. The goal is to elevate the profile and expand the range of ICT research. This integration is scheduled for completion by July 1, 2012.

Fraunhofer FOKUS presents eHealthcare demonstrators at conhIT 2012

From April 24 to 26, Fraunhofer FOKUS will be presenting concepts and developments for a better medical care at the trade show conhIT (Connected Healthcare IT). The presentation (Hall 2.2, booth D111) focuses on the integration of IT solutions in the healthcare system – in hospitals, at local doctor’s offices, and right at the patient’s side – as well as on the secure exchange and management of medical data.

2nd VSimRTI Workshop: Engineering Smart Mobility

Smart Mobility applications run on numerous platforms ranging from in-vehicle systems to smart phones. They aspire to increase driving comfort, time and traffic efficiency and safety through cooperation between drivers and travelers. The simulation environments VSimRTI is proved as a proper tool to develop and evaluate such applications.

Research to Participate – Girls' Day@FOKUS

Staying with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel: Fraunhofer FOKUS is participating on April 25th at Girls' Day at the Chancellery. At this nationwide girls' future day a research and business exhibition will be established for interested students, presenting the exhibits from the area of engineering and natural sciences. Chancellor Angela Merkel guides personally through the exhibition. Next to Fraunhofer FOKUS six other participants are invited.

Fraunhofer FOKUS supports OIPF at IP&TV Worldforum 2012 in London

As a member of the Open IPTV Forum the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS exhibited on the IP&TV Worldforum 2012 (soon TV Connect) in London. Besides the shown non-linear video technology on SmartTVs in the exhibition area the competence center FAME introduced current and OIPF-compliant projects on the TV App Hub.

Open Government Data Workshop at Fraunhofer FOKUS

Another Workshop on the topic „Open Government Data“ has been held at Fraunhofer FOKUS on march 20, 2012. About 20 participants took an active interest in the survey’s interims results that FOKUS draws up in cooperation with the Lorenz-von-Stein-Institute and the ÖPP Deutschland AG on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
