At the booth of Fraunhofer FOKUS with the focus on "Multi Screen Entertainment and Advertisement" visitors of "Medientage München", October 22-24, get an insight into the latest web technologies for interactive and cross-device entertainment. With "FAMIUM Multiscreen Advertisement" a technology solution for the dynamic integration of digital video advertising in classic linear TV content will be shown.
FOKUS will participate in the research and development laboratory the Internet of Everything (IoE) Innovation Center openBerlin from Cisco that will be opened in 2015. The cooperation will focus on broadband networks and service infrastructures in Cloud-Environments. Therefore the OpenXXX testbed toolboxes will be applied, they will be presented at the FUSECO Forum on the 13th and 14th of November.
On the 18th of September 2014 the advisory board of Fraunhofer FOKUS met in Berlin for its annual meeting. At the end of the meeting the members of the advisory board were unanimous: Fraunhofer FOKUS with its portfolio is positioning itself in what is the center of currently technologically, scientifically and commercially relevant.
Fraunhofer FOKUS has intensified its cooperation with partners in the Arab world and supports INTILAQ, a business and Innovation Hub initiated by the Qatar Friendship Fund (QFF), Ooredoo and Microsoft as founding partners, to establish its technical infrastructure.
To travel safely, eco-nomically and inexpensively by train through Europe, uniform signal and train control solutions are needed. As a consequence of history, these still vary from country to country today. The „European Train Control System“ (ETCS) is intended to establish greater consistency. Fraunhofer FOKUS is going to display methods to verify the system as safe at Innotrans 2014.
Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker, coordinating ICT for Smart Cities at Fraunhofer FOKUS, is a co-author of the publication. In her contribution she presents guidlines for dynamic Smart City infrastructure that includes both buisnesses and the citizens.
The Senior Vice President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft appointed Dr. Manfred Hauswirth as Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communications Systems FOKUS in Berlin. Hauswirth will assume his new post on October 1, 2014. Concurrently, he will take over the professorship in "distributed open systems" at the Technical University of Berlin. Prof. Popescu-Zeletin will retire from his position as Director of Fraunhofer FOKUS effective September 30, 2014.

The Open Content Decryption Module (OCDM) is a Content Decryption Module (CDM) compliant to W3C Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) specification to be used with HTML5 based browser environments. OCDM source code is now available on GitHub.
From August 27 – 29, the „OpenSym 2014 – 10th International Symposium on Open Collaboration 2014“ takes place at Fraunhofer FOKUS. The OpenSym 2014 is the conference for researchers and practitioners of open collaboration concepts, processes, and technology.
