      IMS Workshop

      NTT enters in cooperation with Fraunhofer FOKUS

      Strategic partnership between Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), leading communication, network and service provider in Japan and Fraunhofer FOKUS aims to fuel the development of service-oriented technologies for communication networks. The two partners agreed to develop technologies for Next Generations Networks (NGN) and perform research on new service platforms. The targeted platform will provide an environment for converged communication services, multimedia contents, and entertainment services.

      IMS Workshop

      Saudi Telecom signs an agreement with Fraunhofer FOKUS on NGM/IMS Technology

      Fraunhofer FOKUS and Saudi Telecom Company (STC) are starting to cooperate. The partners will design a state of the art experimental Next Generation Network (NGN) platform. On October 11th both parties met in Riyadh to sign the contract. This agreement is based on a Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed in spring this year. STC aims to implement its strategy to experiment and evaluate emerging key technologies and customer services. This open test bed enables STC to perform prototyping in the area of IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS).

      IMS Workshop

      Fraunhofer FOKUS Hosts the IMS Workshop for the Fifth Time

      From 11 th to 12 th of November 2009 around 200 participants from academia, research labs, industries and operators around the world are attending the FOKUS IMS Workshop. This year’s event addresses “Next Generation (Mobile) Networks (NGN) and the Future Internet - Towards Rich Communications and Interactive Media”. Besides IP Multimedia Systems (IMS), the experts will present and discuss latest achievements in NGNs + NGNMs, Service Oriented Architectures, Open Networks, Rich Information Applications and Future Internet research.

      Future Internet

      New proposed standard supports research on Future Internet

      Scientists at Fraunhofer FOKUS are working on research tools to support the Future Internet. Now the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has released the proposed Standard RFC 5655 "Specification of the IP Flow Information Export (IPFIX) File Format" co-authored by Fraunhofer FOKUS. It defines a standardized format for storing network traffic information. Fraunhofer FOKUS will provide the proposed solution as a standard service on PlanetLab Europe, which is an open federated research platform.

      ITEA Exhibition Award

      D-MINT wins ITEA Exhibition Award 2009

      The ITEA2 project D-MINT on Deployment of Model-Based Technologies to Industrial Testing won the ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement) Exhibition Award 2009 back in october. Fraunhofer FOKUS contributed to D-MINT as research partner and coordinator of the German consortium.

      G-Lab DEEP

      Project G-Lab DEEP: More security for the Internet user

      Phishing-Sites, viruses or trojan horses are just some of the risks users of the Web 2.0 have to deal with today. But how can Net users feel save again in the widths of the Internet? A question Fraunhofer Fokus deals with in the Project G-Lab DEEP since September this year. The research project is established for two and a half years. Its focus is on implementing new techniques for more security and less drop outs in the communication of the next Internet generation. Thereby networks and applications are supposed to work together closely.

      Qatar University

      Qatar University signs an agreement with Fraunhofer FOKUS

      The Arabian Emirate Qatar is facing an increasing demand for mobile communication networks in the Gulf region. To advance the development of applied communication technologies, Qatar University Wireless Innovations Center (QUWIC) has teamed up with Fraunhofer FOKUS. On 2nd of September 2009, the partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Doha. In the agreement QUWIC and FOKUS have arranged to cooperate in research projects covering Next Generation Network Infrastructure, Future Wireless Internet, Wireless Sensor Applications, and Future Wireless Applications & Media.

      Quality Assurance in Vehicle Software

      New Standard for Quality Assurance in Vehicle Software

      Drivers and passengers need reliable vehicle control systems for comfort and security. This is why experts at Fraunhofer FOKUS and their partners are working to optimize the software behind those systems. More recently, they have the new software standard called “Testing and Test Control Notation embedded,” or “TTCN-3 embedded” in Berlin. It is especially designed to support the automobile industry’s testing of safety systems.
