OpenRide: Start of mobile intercession of spontaneous rides

Fraunhofer FOKUS has begun the OpenRide pilot project together with the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. OpenRide combines location and social media web services. The new service allows drivers and passengers to spontaneously offer or search for rides. Compared to other solutions the user can access the service on all smartphones because it is web based. In addition the open infrastructure of OpenRide allows developers to integrate the solution into existing social networks. The system compares distance, times and individual likes and dislikes. It wirks spontaneously on the road and for short distances in city traffic.
