Vehicle registration: Service without having to wait

Make a purchase, register, drive. That´s how easy vehicle registration can be. Fraunhofer FOKUS showed how easy this can be done at CeBIT in March 2010. The electronic vehicle registration is based on the functions of the new German identity document: with the help of the electronic identification function a customer can request registration directly at the car dealer. This saves time and distance because going to the vehicle registration office is no longer required. As of 1 November 2010 the innovative system can be used in Mercedes-Benz dealerships across its Berlin branches. A nationwide use of the electronic motor vehicle registration in Germany is scheduled.
