Future communication environments are characterized by two converging trends, broadband networks and mobile service usage. Customers expect their IT services (like email, or voice conversation) to be available in ubiquitous and pervasive way. Moreover, additional information (personal profiles context data) is already used to augment traditional IT services.
The next big challenge is to adopt this way of thinking to the Television domain. TV is what is called a “zero tolerance medium”. If something does not work, customers call the service hotline immediately.
Following this argument, this project aims for the setup of a new NextGenTV Testbed at Fraunhofer FOKUS, which will focus on the following topics:
