The development of knowledge-based consultation systems designed to support decision making processes and elevate transparency and consistency in eGovernment processes.
The development of “legal knowledge-based systems” designed to support decision making processes and elevate transparency and consistency in eGovernment processes.
In our eGovernment laboratory, application oriented research is complemented by feasibility and case studies, the design and development of prototype solutions and tests and demonstrations. The laboratory facilitates the collective development and integration of innovative concepts, applications and best practice solutions. This service is used for R&D work in cooperation with partners from research and business.
ELAN also operates the SOA Laboratory and Secure eIdentity Lab.
FOKUS/ELAN is a member of the Fraunhofer eGovernment Center. The Fraunhofer eGovernment Center’s administrative office is operated by FOKUS/ELAN.
With this combination of eGovernment know-how, the appropriate technical equipment and laboratory environment, contacts to business, the public sector and research communities, ELAN offers an excellent framework for national and international R&D projects, technology transfers and a competent consultation service.
FOKUS Releases Cloud Computing Study for Public Administration
Government offices see a bright future in Cloud Computing, concludes the ISPRAT study “Cooperatives eGovernment – Cloud Computing for Public Administration.” The joint study conducted by Fraunhofer FOKUS and the Hertie School of Governance was introduced in Berlin on 29 November.

Here, doctors can quickly and easily find the right continuing education event on the Internet.
Kick-off of the Russian-German Centre for Interoperable eGovernment Systems
The planned founding of the Russian-German Centre for Interoperable eGovernment Systems in St. Petersburg, Fraunhofer FOKUS and the SPIIRAS Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as the State University for Information Technology in St. Petersburg will establish interoperable and innovative eServices for the Russian sphere.
Executive forum: Cloud Computing in public administration
The executive forum for cloud computing will take place on 14 October 2010 at the Gustav-Stresemann-Institute in Bonn. The huge demand for cloud computing and the sold out event with 130 participants gave cause to host a second event, this time for federal administration, federal state and local authorities.
The new German ID card on tour with the Fraunhofer Truck
The stopover of the Fraunhofer Truck on June 23rd in Berlin was sensational. Almost 3,000 visitors attended the Fraunhofer FOKUS Test and Demonstration Center for the New Identity Card in order to gain insight into future application scenarios with the new card. Among the guests was Kerstin Liebich, Undersecretary of State for Integration and Work, and District Mayor Christina Emmrich.
Prof. Dr. Knut Blind: Innovation with Public-Private Partnerships
