On October 7th, the European research project “STREETLIFE – Steering towards Green and Perceptive Mobility of the Future” was launched. The project is aimed at reducing urban carbon emissions through the development of a multimodal urban mobility information system.
As leading partner in the FP7 project OCEAN, FOKUS organized a Cloud Interoperability Week in late September with various workshops in Madrid and Santa Clara (USA). The results of the event are now available online.
Innumerable cultural assets of the state museums are not yet digitally recorded, and the museums themselves lack the staff. The Ethnological Museum in Berlin is now opening up its treasures through an app for citizens. Committed citizens can describe digital objects and thereby generate meta-data in a playful fashion.
To promote digitalization of administration processes, Fraunhofer FOKUS and the Danish eGov laboratory partner cBrain have now started the certification for the software F2. Capgemini Germany GmbH has become the first German company to be certified for the F2 software.
This year’s “eIDEE – Contest for the digital handshake”, organized by Bundesdruckerei, is searching again for innovative ideas to integrate the online ID function into services. Ideas can be submitted until August 18th 2013. Bundesdruckerei is one of the major partners in the innovation cluster “Next Generation ID”. Berlin-Brandenburg’s expert cluster, managed by FOKUS, gets ID-technologies of the next generation off the ground.
Fraunhofer FOKUS and EnterMarkets have signed a cooperation agreement for projects in the Arabian region. The agreement reflects the growing importance of this attractive scientific and business location. The goal is to adapt and implement applied research from Fraunhofer FOKUS to the specific needs of this dynamic region.
Applications for the Summer School "Intelligent Services for Digitial Cities" in Trento, Italy in September are open until the 10th of June. Fraunhofer FOKUS supports the summer school with technical expertise, especially regarding its Open Data Platform GovData.
